Don’t waste a moment this summer with this laid-back and fun family summer bucket list. Here are 10 ideas that a family of all ages will enjoy this season!
You made it! The school year is finally over and now it’s time to relax and spend time quality time with family. It’s so easy to let the summer get away if I’m not intentional about exactly what my family will do over the break. This is our last summer before both kids will be in school. They’re also both at fun ages that make it easier to travel and enjoy bigger activities without it being completely stressful.
I’m so excited to complete this family summer bucket list! All the activities are things I know my kids will love but will also be fun for my husband and me. Another great thing- a lot of these are free or pretty cheap!
Here’s a list of fun, family summer bucket list ideas to help you make the most of this summer!
10 Family Summer Bucket List Ideas
1. Make Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches
Ice cream sandwiches are a classic summer treat that kids and adults both love! This summer we’re going to make homemade ice cream sandwiches using this recipe and homemade vanilla ice cream. We’ve loved using the Cuisinart Ice Cream maker.
2. Have a Water Balloon Fight
I’m planning to buy these water balloons for our whole family to enjoy in the back yard!
3. Visit a Farmer’s Market
We’re excited to visit our local farmer’s market to buy some fresh fruit and veggies!
4. Read a Book as a Family
My goal is for our family to read a chapter book together throughout the summer. We’ve started Little Pilgrim’s Progress which is great for small children since the chapters are so short!
5. Outdoor Movie Night
We loved using our projector and movie screen in the backyard in the fall! So this summer I’d love for us to host another one with some friends and family.
6. Visit the Beach
It just doesn’t seem like the summer if I don’t see the ocean! Thankfully, we live only a couple of hours from both the beach and the mountains, so we’re looking forward to beach trip to Kiawah Island this summer.
7. Go Hiking
Like I mentioned, we are also very close to mountains! We can easily take a day trip up to visit some trails and waterfalls. The kids love being outside and going hiking, so I’m making sure that we visit a new trail this summer!
8. Make Homemade Pizza
Of course, we love pizza around here! I’m looking forward to making some homemade pizzas with the kids with fun toppings. This will be a great way to get us cooking and spending time together!
9. Go Berry Picking
Last summer we really enjoyed strawberry picking! I’m hoping we can do that again or go to Jeter Mountain Farm in the late summer to pick berries and peaches. There is nothing like pies and crisps made with fresh berries!
10. Host Game Night
We’re not usually one for game nights (maybe because we’ve had small kids with early bedtimes for so long haha), but I think it will be a great way for us to spend time together and with other families!
