If you’re looking for a simple, nutritious snack for your kids, look no further! This healthy kids smoothie is a perfect breakfast or after school snack that’s satisfying and sweet without the added sugar.
Smoothies are the perfect way to get fruit and veggies in your kids’ diet! I love going to a local smoothie shop, but many people don’t realize that there is so much sugar added to those yummy treats. When I researched the nutrition guide to a nearby smoothie shop, most of them had between 75 and 100 grams of sugar in a serving! With the right combination of fruits, you can make a delicious smoothie without all of that added sugar and with so many nutritious foods. This recipe has been tested on some slightly picky little kids and was a proven winner. Here’s my recipe for a healthy, cherry mango smoothie.
Cherry Mango Healthy Kids Smoothie
What makes this smoothie so healthy?
Here’s a look at the different ingredients and why you should add them to your diet and this nutritious smoothie…
Cherry:
Cherries add so much flavor and sweetness to smoothies! They are rich in antioxidants, fiber and vitamin C.
Mango:
Mangos are also rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Not only are they great for your immune and digestive systems, but they have been shown to have anticancer benefits!
Chia Seed:
These seeds may be tiny, but they are powerful! Chia seeds are rich in fiber, protein and bone strengthening nutrients such as calcium and magnesium.
Flax Seed:
Flax seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and cancer-fighting properties. These can be bought as whole seeds or pre-ground.
Spinach:
As parents, we’re always looking for a way to sneak veggies into our kids’ diets. Spinach is a great option because it has almost no flavor but so many great health benefits! You can read all about spinach here.
